Hartford County resident Trent Logan, of Enfield, was arrested on Monday, April 24 for driving "erratically and aggressively" at up to 140 mph while speeding away from police in the area of Windsor Locks on March 31, 2023, according to the Connecticut State Police.
The high-speed chase ensued after a state trooper saw a dark-colored Dodge Challenger passing traffic at 132 mph on I-91 northbound in the area of Windsor Locks in March.
The driver of the Challenger, later identified as Logan, accelerated to approximately 140 mph and began passing vehicles using both shoulders of the highway as he attempted to evade the trooper.
The high-speed chase became increasingly dangerous to other drivers, so the trooper abandoned the chase and exited the highway at Exit 46 only to find that Logan had taken the same exit and the Challenger was at the bottom of the ramp.
The trooper turned on his lights and siren and attempted to pull the Challenger over, but instead, Logan abruptly accelerated and drove onto I-91 heading south, traveling in an "erratic and reckless manner" at speeds over 100 mph. Once again, the trooper abandoned the chase due to a risk to public safety.
An investigation later determined that Logan was the driver of the Challenger. A warrant for his arrest was granted to Connecticut State Police by the Hartford Superior Court on Friday, April 21.
Three days after the warrant was granted, 23-year-old Logan was stopped by the East Windsor Police Department while driving the same Dodge Challenger. He was arrested on the warrant held by Connecticut State Police.
State troopers took custody of Logan, who is facing the following charges:
- Reckless endangerment, first degree
- Interfering with an officer
- Reckless driving
- Failure to obey the signal of an officer / engage in pursuit
